The Ancient Sacred Island of Delos

Delos, only a short 25-minute boat ride from Mykonos, was the centre of the Cyclades in the ancient world. Also known as the island of light, the birthplace of Apollon and Artemis was the first multicultural civilization and trade centre.

There is a lot to see in this not so well know island. Having been inhabited between 2500 BC and 69 BC, Delos boasts a collection of many treasures such as the ancient market place Agora, the famous terrace of the Naxos lions and the holy lake. The ancients living quarters and theatre offer a lively vision of the daily life at the time. The houses of Dionysos, Kleopatra, the Tridents, the Masks and the Dolphins with their mosaics are a fantastic experience of art not to be missed.

Delos, as place of international trade also showcases samples of other civilizations as the Temple of Isis, the roman aqueduct system and a museum featuring plenty of breathtaking mosaics, statues and other antiquities found during the excavations.

Our guided tour, which starts at 10:00 pm from the old pier in Mykonos Town, goes on until 2:30 pm. Guests have the option to remain a little bit longer, providing they take the last boat back at 3:00 pm. This way, you will have some additional time for leisure or a climb on Mount Kynthos to enjoy the view of the surrounding Cycladic Islands.

  • Meeting Point: Tour starts at Delos Pier – Mykonos Town
  • Moderate walking through the ruins of Delos Island so a pair of walking shoes and a bottle of water is highly recommended.
