When is the Athens Acropolis closed?

The Acropolis is closed on:

  • 1 January
  • 6 January (open 08:30 – 15:00)
  • Shrove Monday (open 08:30 – 15:00)
  • 25 March – Greek Independence Day
  • Good Friday: Acropolis – closed until 12:00 p.m.
  • 1 May – Labor Day
  • Easter Sunday
  • Easter Monday (open 08:30 – 15:00)
  • Pentecost (open 08:30 – 15:00)
  • 28 October (open 08:30 – 15:00)
  • 25 December
  • 26 December

What are the Athens Acropolis Admission Fees?

From April 01 to October 31

  • Free for children up to 18 years old and students from EU countries (with current student ID)
  • 50% Discount for students outside the EU (with current student ID)
  • € 26 for the adults, covering all the sites that will be visited

Who is entitled to Reduced Admission to the Acropolis of Athens?

The following visitors are entitled to a reduced admission fee:

  • All visitors, during the period November 01 to March 31 of each year
  • Students of Higher Education Institutes and equivalent Schools from countries outside the EU by showing their International Student Identity Card (ISIC)
  • Greek citizens and citizens of other Member – States of the European Union aged over 65 years old by showing their ID card or passport.

Who is entitled to Free Admission to the Acropolis of Athens?

Entitled to free admission are:

  • Young persons under 18 years of age (with current identification to prove age)
  • Students from Higher Education Institutions and Tour Guide Training Institutions, from EU countries, with current student identification card or International Student Identity Card (ISIC)
  • Tour Guides with professional license from the Hellenic Ministry of Development
  • Teachers or parents accompanying children on primary & secondary education school visits
  • Official guests of the Greek Public
  • Visitors with disabilities from EU and non-EU countries and person accompanying them
  • Archaeologists, with current working identification card
  • Journalists with current identification card

When is the Entrance to the Athens Acropolis Free?

Entrance is free to the Acropolis to all visitors on the following days:

  • 6 March (Memory of Melina Mercouri)
  • 18 April (International Monument Day)
  • 18 May (International Museum Day)
  • The last weekend of September (European Days of Cultural Heritage)
  • October 28th
  • Every first Sunday, from November 1st to March 31st annually

Yes, there are; by the main Entrance, by the side entrance -Dionysus Theater- and on top of the Acropolis by the old Museum.
